The National Weather Service has updated its winter storm warning and is now predicting blizzard-like conditions to affect New England, beginning late Friday night and intensifying over the course of Saturday. The anticipated snow accumulation figures for the Greater Boston area now stand at 18-24 inches, with expected wind gusts up to 65 miles per hour.
The safety of our community is our most important priority. Based on the current forecasts the university made the decision that all in-person classes scheduled for Saturday will meet remotely. Faculty members who need technical assistance with moving instruction online should reference the Digital Flexibility article, which provides instructions for Zoom meetings and contains links to Canvas support for after-hours questions.
Our dedicated Facilities crews will be working around the clock to maintain a safe campus for those in our community who live on campus or have job functions that require them to be on site.

The Roux Institute in Portland, Maine, will also suspend its in-person operations on Saturday. All other campuses in Northeastern’s global network will be open and operational as they are not affected by this storm system.
