Charlotte Campus Response to COVID-19

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

I am writing to provide you with an important notice of change to the Charlotte campus operations in response to the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Following guidance and recommendations informed by Mecklenburg County Health Department, and the State of North Carolina, and to ensure educational continuity, Northeastern is making the following operational changes to the Charlotte campuses, effective Monday, March 16, 2020:

ABSN Classes/Labs/Clinicals

• All on-site courses and labs will move to remote or online learning formats.
• Faculty will communicate with ABSN students regarding online examinations.
• ABSN Clinicals remain as scheduled until further notice. Faculty will be in direct contact with students whose schedule may be impacted.  We encourage close communication with your faculty and Clinical sites as this may change quickly and throughout the term.
• Students who have been asked to self-quarantine by the university or clinical partners should not come to campus.
• Faculty who have not done so already should reach out to program directors regarding modifications to course delivery.
• Students with questions should contact WeCare at 617-373-7591 or via email at wecare@northeastern.edu.

Campus Operations

• The campus remains open at this time, staffed by administrative and operations personnel.
• Faculty and staff who are at higher risk of severe illness should stay home and away from large groups. People at higher risk include:
  • People 60 and older;
  • People with underlying health conditions including heart disease, lung disease, kidney disease, cancer, or diabetes;
  • People who have weakened immune systems; and
  • People who are pregnant.
• In accordance with the university’s policy on remote work, the Charlotte campus will enable remote work wherever possible, while ensuring business continuity. We would like to reiterate that if you are sick, or think you are sick please stay at home. Do not come to work and please contact your medical care provider.

The university remains in close communication with public health agencies and experts. As conditions change and new public health agency guidance is issued, we will update the campus community accordingly.

In the meantime, I encourage you to continue to check the university’s COVID-19 website for general information and changes to university programs and policies.
