Defending champion Northeastern defeated Harvard, 1-0, in a Women’s Beanpot semifinal tonight at Bright-Landry Hockey Center.
The Huskies (14-9-1) will face Boston University for the championship at 8 p.m. next Tuesday – the first women’s final to be played at TD Garden.
Harvard will play Boston College in the consolation game at 5 p.m.
Northeastern defeated BC, 2-1, to win last year’s Beanpot. The Huskies and Terriers last met in the 2020 final – won by Northeastern, 4-3, in double overtime.

Thompson redirected a shot by Tory Mariano from just inside the blue line past Harvard goalie Alex Pellicci. Lilly Shannon picked up the second assist.
Thompson played for Harvard as a freshman before transferring to Northeastern.

Winner will face Boston University for the championship
The winner of tonight’s second semifinal between Northeastern and Harvard will face Boston University in the final at 8 p.m. next Tuesday at TD Garden.
BU defeated BC, 4-3, in a shootout in tonight’s first semifinal, which was tied, 3-3, after regulation and five minutes of overtime.
Lilli Welcke scored the shootout goal for the Terriers, who defeated the Eagles in the first round of the Beanpot for the first time. BC had won the previous seven meetings.
Five keys to a Northeastern semifinal victory
The 15th-ranked Northeastern women’s hockey team (13-9-1) will face Harvard (3-14-1) at 7:30 tonight in a Beanpot semifinal at Harvard’s Bright-Landry Hockey Center.
The winner will advance to next Tuesday’s championship game, the first Women’s Beanpot final in the 45-year history of the tournament to be played at TD Garden.
Here are five keys to a Huskies’ victory tonight…
The winner of last year’s Bertagna Award as the Beanpot’s top goalie, Philips enters tonight’s semifinal allowing just 1.18 goals per game with a save percentage of .954. The Huskies have allowed just one goal in each of their last five games.
A junior forward, Irving has already surpassed her point total (16) of a year ago. Entering tonight’s semifinal, she has five goals and 15 assists for a career-high 20 points. Irving leads all Huskies with five multi-point games this season.
The graduate student and team captain needs one point to catch Maureen Robinson (1989-93) for 10th place on Northeastern’s all-time points list for defenders. Carter has 69 points (14 goals, 55 assists) in 148 career games, including eight points this season.
Fifth-year student Katy Knoll is the NCAA’s active career leader with 18 game-winning goals, including two this season. At Northeastern, she trails only legends Alina Mueller (28) and Kendall Coyne (20) in that category. Knoll’s 32 blocks lead all Hockey East forwards.
The Huskies are outscoring their opponents, 21-9, in the third period this season and are 11-0 when recording a goal in the final 20 minutes. Graduate student Peyton Anderson has scored five of her team-leading 10 goals in the third period.
