ACTOR, PARALYMPIAN ATHLETE

An actor in the Emmy-nominated TV show Stranger Things will deliver Northeastern University’s 2018 Commencement address on May 4 at TD Garden in Boston. A world record-setting sprinter will also deliver the address. So will a double below-the-knee amputee who pioneered the woven carbon-fiber prostheses that are now the international standard. Student Speaker: Carly Parlato

Carly Parlato’s time at Northeastern has taken her to the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California and to Taiwan during a Google co-op. Parlato, who will tell her peers to “embrace change” when she gives the student Commencement address, has plans to travel much, much farther. Read more

NORTHEASTERN ANNOUNCES 2018 HONORARY DEGREE RECIPIENTS

Paula Kerger, president and CEO of PBS, John Sexton, president emeritus and professor at New York University, and Anthony Foxx, former U.S. Transportation Secretary and former mayor of Charlotte, will receive honorary degrees at Northeastern’s undergraduate Commencement ceremony on Friday. MAY 4 – 10:30 AM (GRADUATES 7:30 AM) – TD GARDEN

Undergraduate degree candidates must report to TD Garden by 7:30 a.m. on Friday. Graduating students should use the Legends Way entrance, and should not enter TD Garden through the arena’s main entrance. Legends Way is located on the
east side of TD Garden (the side closest to the Zakim Bridge). Signs and staff will direct students to their entrance.
