Northeastern will host the ninth annual Bouvé Health Fair and Flu Clinic on Wednesday, when students, faculty, and staff can receive free flu shots, health screenings, and information on a range of health and wellness topics.

Organizers will have about 2,000 flu vaccines on hand at the event, which will be held in the Curry Student Center Ballroom and Indoor Quad from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood glucose screenings will also be available, and there will be a number of giveaways—from stress balls to T-shirts to pedometers.

Northeastern’s chapter of Phi Delta Chi, the professional fraternity of pharmacy, is organizing the event in collaboration with the School of Nursing, the School of Pharmacy, and the physician assistant program. The chapter has also been working closely with other student groups and University Health and Counseling Services to coordinate the event.

“This is a really important event, both for public health and for our pharmacy organization,” said Kaitlyn Gallant, PharmD’19, who is a member of Phi Delta Chi. “We believe that interprofessional healthcare environments improve patient care, so it’s great that we can work together with other student groups and faculty and staff in Bouvé.”

Student groups will be managing information tables on a variety of health topics, including exercise and nutrition, caffeine and energy drinks, smoking cessation, alcohol awareness, and oral hygiene.

There will also be a limited number of walk-in appointments to donate blood at the health fair. Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute are sponsoring the blood drive.

Organizers emphasized the importance of receiving the annual flu vaccine, which will be administered at the event by students and faculty from the nursing, pharmacy, and physician assistant programs.
